Are you running a G rated boiler?
If your boiler is over 15 years then your boiler may be G rated, switching to an A rated boiler could save you £235 on your heating bill.
Reducing your Room Thermostats
Reducing the settings on your thermostat by 1 degree Celsius can reduce your fuel consumption by up to 10%.
New Control Systems
Have you upgraded your heating control system with the latest equipment available? The minimum level of control is a programmer, interlocking room thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves.
Did you know that around 30% of the heat loss from your property is though the roof? You should replace old insulation with new insulation; replace it ideally with 200 mm thickness or more. This could save you around £175 per year.
Cavity Wall Insulation
Cavity wall insulation acts as a blanket to help stop your heat from your home escaping through the walls. This could save you up to £135 per year.
Are you windows single glazed? You can lose a great deal of heat through them. You may want to consider replacing them with PVCu or wooden framed double glazed units.
Is your radiator is situated underneath a window? The performance will be affected if the curtains are draping over the radiator. Shelves fitted above or in front of the radiator should be avoided.
Heavier full-length curtains can provide excellent insulation. However, always ensure that the curtains are not draping over any radiators.
Ensure that draughts around doors, windows, letterboxes and keyholes etc. are reduce by using a suitable draught excluder. This could save you around £25 per year. Add a jacket to your hot water cylinder to save you up to £35 per year.
